DALLAS, Pa. – Immaculata University's women's lacrosse squad suffered a one-goal loss at Misericordia on Thursday afternoon, 15-14, in non-conference action.
Alyssa Petito led the Mighty Macs with seven points on a team-leading four goals and three assists, and
Emily Hallett had four goals and one assist for five points.
Katie Cook also recorded multiple goals as she netted three tallies.
Chelsey Murta had one goal and one assist,
Kelly Kugler and
Danielle Lopez had one goal apiece, and
Mackie Fitzgerald made one assist.
Immaculata (1-3) played from behind for almost the entire first half as Misericordia scored the first two goals less than two minutes into the game. Hallett scored at the 26:09 mark, but Misercordia scored twice more for a 4-1 edge with 24:01 remaining in the first half.
Petito found the back of the net at the 22:29 mark of the opening half, cutting the score to 4-2. However, the Cougars scored another pair of goals for a 6-2 lead midway through the first period.
The Mighty Macs scored three consecutive goals as Murta, Lopez and Cook scored within six minutes of one another to trim the Cougars' lead to 6-5 with 9:37 to play in the half.
After Misericordia (2-2) score at the 8:25 mark to go ahead 7-5, Immaculata ended the half on a 3-0 run to take its first lead of the game into halftime, 8-7.
The two squads traded goals during the first five minutes as Immaculata still had a one-goal advantage with 25:25 left in the contest. But, Misericordia scored four straight tallies to lead 12-9 at the midway point of the second half.
Immaculata answered back with four goals, taking back its one-goal edge (13-12) just inside 10 minutes to go in the contest. Misericordia went on three-goal spurt in less than two minutes to go ahead by two, 15-13, with 4:58 left in the game.
The Mighty Macs started a run during the closing minutes as Kugler scored with 1:10 left to bring the squad within one (15-14), but Immaculata wasn't able to net the equalizer.

Britt Worthington took the loss while making six saves. Cougars' goalkeeper Erika Proctor was credited with the win as she made three stops.
Melina Juliano led Misercordia with seven goals and four assists.
Immaculata plays the last game of its five-game road trip on Saturday at Lebanon Valley at 12 p.m.
