Women’s Basketball Tops Rosemont In Play4Kay Game, 73-52

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University women's basketball team closed its home slate of the regular season with a 73-52 victory over Rosemont Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action. The contest included Play4Kay, a breast cancer awareness initiative for the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund and a celebration for Immaculata's five seniors.

Immaculata improves to 12-11 on the season on 10-4 in the CSAC while the Ravens fall to 11-12 overall and 5-10 in the league.

The Mighty Macs scored the game's first 10 points in the opening three minutes.  The Ravens cut the lead 10-5 at the 15:09 minute mark but Immaculata responded with a 15-6 run, extending their lead to 16 points as the Mighty Macs held a 35-24 advantage at the break.

Immaculata built a 23 point lead 10 minutes in to the second half as the Mighty Macs outscored the Ravens 38-28.

Kelly Brown led Immaculata with 25 points and seven rebounds while Bridget Welz totaled 14 points and six boards and three steals. Leah Kuczynski netted 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds and Chrissy Esbensen added 10 points and four assists.

Elizabeth Coyne led Rosemont with a double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds and Ashley Montecchio totaled 11 points. Vanessa Johnson pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Immaculata is back in action on Monday at Marywood for a key CSAC contest at 6 p.m.
