RADNOR, Pa.- Immaculata University used a 14-1 run midway through the second half to break open a tight game as the Mighty Macs earned a 53-40 win over Cabrini College in Colonial States Athletic Conference action Wednesday evening. Immaculata improves to 9-9 overall and 7-2 in league play while Cabrini drops to 7-11 and 5-5 in the CSAC.
Cabrini held a slim lead throughout first half before Immaculata leveled the score at 15-15 with 2:56 remaining on a pair of free throws from
Sara Smith. Cabrini responded with four points of their own to regain the lead before
Kelly Brown netted back-to-back baskets in the final minute of the first half to send Immaculata into halftime with a 20-19 lead.
Immaculata jumped out to a five point lead in the second half and Cabrini would cut the deficit to two points, 28-26, with 15 minutes remaining. Immaculata responded with a decisive run as the visitors kept the game out of reach with a 13 point lead, thanks to a three-ball by Kate Durkin at the 7:56 minute mark. Immaculata held off the Cavaliers in the final five minutes of the contest including a 4-for-5 effort from
Chrissy Esbensen at the charity stripe to seal the victory.
Esbensen led Immaculata with 13 points, three assists, and four steals.

Kelly Brown, Bridegt Welz, and
Sara Smith contributed nine points each. Welz pulled down a team-high seven boards while Smith grabbed six boards and swiped five steals.
Leithie Faison netted 12 points, three steals, and five boards to lead Cabrini while Brittany Sandone totaled nine points and six rebounds in the loss.
Immaculata returns home to host Baptist Bible on Saturday for an important CSAC contest. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. in Alumane Hall.
