Scranton Slips Past Field Hockey In Overtime, 1-0

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
The University of Scranton scored in the 77th  minute to defeat Immaculata University 1-0 in overtime in a non-league contest at Draper Walsh Stadium Thursday night.

Laura Megargel tallied her second goal of the season seven minutes in the first overtime period from a shot at the top of the circle to give the Royals its fourth straight win.  Scranton outshot the Mighty Macs 8-5 and owned a 16-4 advantage in penalty corners. Emily Hallet and Mary Beth Plastek led the Mighty Macs' attack, each recording two shots.

Freshman goalkeeper Natalie Slezak made six stops between the pipes for the Mighty Macs. Alexandria Marandino notched her fourth win of the season totaling two saves for Scranton.

Immaculata (1-5) will open CSAC play in its next contest on Saturday, Sept. 17 versus Keystone. Start time is set for 11 a.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
