BOYERTOWN, Pa- The Immaculata University Baseball team fell to Keystone College, 12-2, in the first round of Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship Tournament at Bear Stadium.
Keystone College tallied its first run in the second inning to take the lead. Immaculata responded when Joe Rawlings doubled to center field scoring Matt Hardy at top of the third to tie the game, 1-1.
The Giants exploded in the third adding three runs and tallied five more in the sixth to hold the lead over the Mighty Macs. Immaculata would add its second run of the game on an error in the fifth inning from Pat Boulware.
Alex Kobylinski started on the mound allowing seven runs on five hits in 5.1 innings. Joe Caria came in relief lasting one inning surrendering four runs on five hits. Kirk Wenzler pitched the final inning giving up one run.
Boulware and Rawlings both went 1-for-3 at the plate while Matt Hardy finished 1-for-2 with one run scored. The Mighty Macs collected four hits compared to the Giants' 12 hits.
Keystone added three more insurance runs in the eighth to advance to the CSAC Championship title game on Saturday.
Immaculata will play the winner of the elimination game between Gwynedd-Mercy and Neumann tonight at Bear Stadium beginning at 7 p.m.
