Men's Lacrosse Defeated By Gwynedd-Mercy

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.
– Immaculata University's men's lacrosse team had a 12-5 setback against Gwynedd-Mercy College on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

The Mighty Macs slip to 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the CSAC while the Griffins improve to 5-6, 3-1 CSAC.

Dante Tuscai scored two goals and added one assist while Ben Tuscai had one goal and assisted on four tallies. Brendan Dinneen and Joey Shallow each had one goal apiece.  Immaculata goalkeeper Jon Diodati made 12 saves while suffering in the loss.

The Mighty Macs scored the first goal of the contest on an extra-man opportunity at the 11:23 mark of the first quarter as D. Tuscai found the back of the net off a pass from his brother, B. Tuscai. The Griffins then answered with three goals spanning into the second quarter for a 3-1 edge with 14:28 remaining in the first half.

Dinneen and B. Tuscai each scored for Immaculata around Gwynedd-Mercy's fourth goal to keep the Mighty Macs within a one-goal margin (4-3) midway through the second quarter. However, Gwynedd-Mercy scored twice during the final four minutes before halftime to lead at the break, 6-3.

D. Tuscai scored his second goal with 11:52 remaining in the game to bring the Mighty Macs' deficit to 9-4, and Shallow rattled the net with 1:11 left for the final margin.

Gwynedd-Mercy was led by four goals from Liam Malley and a hat trick by Nicholas Coan. Griffins' goalie Ryley O'Keefe played a complete game making six saves.

Immaculata plays Chestnut Hill in non-league action on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
