ST. DAVID'S, Pa.- The Immaculata University baseball team picked up its sixth straight win by defeating host Eastern University, 11-5, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Mighty Macs improve to an overall record of 9-9 and 3-3 in the CSAC while the Eagles drop to 7-12 overall.
Joe DiGiaimo went 3-for-6 at the plate with two runs scored while Matt Bolden went 3-for-5 with a team-high six RBI to lead the Mighty Macs. Joe Rawlings and Rick Gehman collected two hits each for a team total of 13 hits. Matt Hardy and Rawlings contributed two runs in the victory.
Eastern opened the game by putting two runs on the board in the first inning. Immaculata scored one run in the second and tallied three more in the third to take a 4-1 lead.
Andrew Dietrich started for Immaculata and lasted three innings giving up two runs, two of them earned, on two hits. Aaron Haas (2-1) came on and pitched 6.1 innings to pick up the win. He allowed three runs on five hits, struck out one and walked two.
Dave News scored a run in the seventh when Matt Bolden hit an RBI single but it wasn't until the ninth inning that Immaculata sealed the win, scoring six runs. The Eagles scored its final run in the ninth inning with a final score of 11-5.
Kyle Kurdewan suffered the loss for Eastern giving up four runs, four of them earned, on four hits.
Immaculata travels to Marywood on Friday for a CSAC contest beginning at 3 p.m.
