IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University baseball team extended its win streak to 12 games with a sweep over Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent Philadelphia Bible on Monday afternoon. The Mighty Macs captured an 8-2 win in game one before an 11-7 victory in game two.
Immaculata ( 15-9, 8-3 CSAC) held a 4-1 lead, scoring two runs in the first and added two more in the second. Philadelphia Bible added its second run of the game in the third inning but the Mighty Macs would score two more in fifth frame from Eli Vottero and Patrick Boulware before adding two insurance tallies in the top half of the seventh to claim the 8-2 win.
Boulware drove in two runs going 2-for-4 at the plate and one RBI. T.J. Warner and Joe DiGiaimo finished the game with two RBI a piece.
John Pedorenko started the game going five innings. He gave up five hits and one unearned run. Bryan McHale claimed the win allowing one earned run while striking out two batters.
The Mighty Macs kept the bats going in the second game jumping to a 3-1 lead through two innings. Immaculata scored four more in the third but the Crimson Eagles rallied in the bottom of the third to make it a tied game, 6-6.
DiGiaimo singled to left field scoring Dave News to take a one point lead in the fourth but Philadelphia Bible quickly answered with a run of its own to keep the score tied at 7-all. However, the Mighty Macs broke away scoring three runs in the sixth and added another in the seventh to escape with the victory.
DiGiaimo went 3-for-4 scoring three runs and three RBI while Joe Rawlings registered a team-high five RBI. Matt Hardy, News, and Rawlings scored two runs each for the Mighty Macs.
Richard Cusic earned the win on the mound in four innings. He struck out seven batters and walked one. Alex Kobylinski pitched two innings in relief allowing six earned runs and eight hits.
Immaculata travels to Philadelphia Bible to finish the series on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
