Immaculata Tops Eastern In Non-Conference Baseball Action

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University baseball team defeated Eastern University, 6-1, to conclude a memorable afternoon in which many gathered to take part in a pre-game ceremony of the dedication and blessing of Immaculata University's Baseball Stadium.

Immaculata claimed its tenth straight win and improved to a 13-9 overall record while Eastern dropped to a 9-14 record.

The Mighty Macs opened the game by putting three runs on the board in the second inning. Eli Vottero hit an RBI single that brought around Matt Bolden to score one run in the fifth to make the score, 4-0.

 Rick Gehman scored one of his two runs in the fifth and Vottero rounded out the scoring when he stole home in the seventh inning to hold the lead, 6-0.

The Eagles broke up the shutout in the eighth inning with one run scored while being held to only two hits.

Patrick Boulware led the squad with two hits and Vottero also knocked in two runs for the Mighty Macs.
Bryan McHale picked up the win on the mound after pitching eight innings. He gave up one earned run on two hits while striking out nine batters.

Immaculata returns to play on Monday, April 25 traveling to Philadelphia Bible for a CSAC doubleheader at 12 p.m.
