SCRANTON, Pa.- Immaculata University baseball captures the three-game series over Marywood with a 17-12 win and extended their winning streak to nine games on Monday afternoon in CSAC action.
Immaculata improves to 12-9 overall and 6-3 in CSAC action while Marywood drops their fourth straight and falls to 12-10, 5-6 CSAC.
Immaculata collected two doubles each from Matt Hardy and Matt Bolden while Hardy finished with a team-high four RBI and three runs. Dave News, Joe DiGiaimo, and Rick Gehman all went 2-for-5 tallying two runs apiece, while News added a triple. Eli Vottero finished 2-for-4 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored, including a double.
Marywood took an early 2-0 lead until Immaculata tied the game in the fifth and plated 10 unearned runs in the sixth to take a 12-2 lead. From there, Immaculata kept the game at a distance from the Pacers knocking in two runs in the seventh and three more in the eighth inning.
Marywood scored four runs in the seventh and six in the ninth but came up short falling to the Mighty Macs, 17-12.
Aaron Dietrich (2-1) got the win for the Mighty Macs after pitching the first six innings. He allowed two earned runs on five hits and struck out one batter.
Immaculata hosts Baptist Bible College tomorrow for a single, nine-inning game beginning at 4 p.m.
