Baseball Extends Winning Streak To Eight, Sweeps Marywood

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
Immaculata University baseball team hosted CSAC foe Marywood and extended its winning streak to eight by beating the Pacers, 5-3 and 2-0, on Sunday afternoon.

The Mighty Macs improve to 11-9 overall and 5-3 in CSAC play while the Pacers fall to 12-9 overall and 5-5 in the conference.

Alex Kobylinski started in the circle pitching 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits. Richard Cusic (1-0) came in relief to earn the win allowing no hits.

Immaculata got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Matt Hardy hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Dave News. Marywood answered scoring three runs in the second but would only be in the lead until the third inning when the Mighty Macs knocked in two runs to tie the game, 3-3.

Joe DiGiaimo went 3-for-4 at the plate with one RBI while Matt Bolden and Dave News went 2-for-3 with one RBI each. News scored two runs in the victory.

The Mighty Macs plated two runs in the sixth to secure the 5-3 win from Pat Boulwaure and pinch runner Brandon Seibert.

In game two, neither team had scored until the fourth inning when Immaculata's Eli Vottero knocked in a run to take a 1-0 lead. DiGiaimo scored in the fifth on a throwing error to give the Mighty Macs' its second point which would eventually win the ballgame, 2-0.

Bryan McHale (3-2) pitched all seven innings and struck out six in the complete-game effort. Marywood's Ryan Pelle (5-1) took his first loss on the mound giving up six hits on two runs.

Immaculata returns to action on Tuesday hosting Baptist Bible for a 3 p.m. start against the Defenders.
