IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's men's lacrosse squad ushered in the 2011 home slate in grand fashion on Wednesday afternoon with an 18-2 victory against non-conference opponent Penn State Abington.
Brendan Dinneen and
Joey Shallow paced Immaculata with four goals and two assists each.
Dante Tuscai recorded three goals and two assists, and
Ben Tuscai scored two goals and had four assists.
Nick Ridolfi finished with three points on one tally and two helpers. Jordan Smith and Taylor Acree each had two-goal days, and
Mike Boyd has two assists.
The Mighty Macs' offense set several single-game program records in the game. Immaculata's 18 goals, 14 assists and 32 points all marked single-game record. The 16-goal margin of victory was also a program record for the Mighty Macs.
Immaculata led 7-0 at halftime as Acree and B. Tuscai each scored twice in the first half. Penn State Abington scored the first goal of both the third and fourth quarters. However, after the Nittany Lions made it 11-2 with 14:42 left in the fourth quarter, the Mighty Macs ended the game with seven straight tallies.
Jim Baranello and
Chaz Gorman each collected five ground balls. Baranello also caused five Penn State Abington turnovers, and
Max Bassett had four caused turnovers. Gorman was 11 of 15 on face-offs for Immaculata, and D. Tuscai and
Nick Litrenta were 5-for-5 and 3-3, respectively.
Jon Diodati got his first collegiate win in net for Immaculata making three saves. Penn State Abington goalie Trevor Jones recorded 14 saves in the loss.
The Nittany Lions' two markers were from Kyle Andress and Justin O'Brien.
