IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata University earned a 7-5 victory over visiting Arcadia on Wednesday evening. The game marked the home opener of the 2011 season and the first game played at Immaculata's University Baseball Stadium.
Immaculata improved to 2-3 on the regular season while Arcadia falls to 0-4.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning until Arcadia pushed across a pair of runs to take a 2-0 lead. Immaculata answered in the bottom half of the frame with a two-out RBI single from Joe Rawlings. The Mighty Macs evened the score in their half of the fifth on an RBI hit by Joe DiGiaimo.
The Knights took another lead with a pair of runs in the top of the sixth and another run in the seventh to take the 5-2 advantage. Immaculata's rally in the seventh was halted, but Immaculata managed to put a run across and inch ever closer at 5-3.
The Mighty Macs came back in the eight inning scoring four runs on just two hits. Matt Hardy led off with a single while Joe Rawlings followed with a one-out single to left advancing Hardy. Patrick Boulware would later knock in both runners with a game-tying double.
The Mighty Macs sealed the 7-5 win when Seibert scored on a sac fly off the bat of Elijah Vottero. Alex Kobylinski finished out the ninth to secure the victory for Immaculata.
Bryan McHale started for the Mighty Macs allowing 4 runs in 5.2 innings. John Pedorenko (1-0) pitched 1.1 innings of scoreless relief for Immaculata to earn the victory. Aaron Beusis (0-1) took the loss for Arcadia
Immaculata returns home on Saturday hosting Wilkes University for a doubleheader at noon.
