UNION, N.J. – Immaculata University's men's lacrosse squad fell to Kean University on Wednesday evening, 9-4, at Alumni Stadium in non-conference action.
The Mighty Macs' (2-2) scoring came courtesy of three goals from Joey Shallow and one tally from Jordan Smith. Ben Tuscai also had two assists on the night.
Kean (4-1) scored two goals in the first quarter for the early 2-0 lead. The Cougars scored more two goals for a 4-0 advantage before the Mighty Macs could get on the scoreboard in the second quarter.
Shallow sandwiched his two first-half tallies around Kean's fifth goal during the final five minutes of the frame. Kean held the 5-2 lead at halftime.
The Cougars scored the only goal of the third quarter, and scored twice during the first five minutes of the final stanza to lead 8-2.
Smith took advantage of a man-up opportunity for the Mighty Macs and netted a goal with 7:04 to play in the game. Shallow completed his hat trick with 3:18 remaining in the contest, cutting Kean's lead to 8-4. The Cougars added one more score during the final minute for the 9-4 final.
Immaculata goalkeeper Jon Diodati made 10 saves. Kean goalie Lane Zierten made 11 stops.
Brian Maggi, Tom Clifford and Todd Petrone all scored two goal apiece to lead Kean.
Immaculata begins a three-game home stretch on Saturday against Elizabethtown at 1 p.m.
