BALTIMORE, Md. – Immaculata senior forward Chelsea McTigue reached the 1,000 career point plateau with 27 points as Immaculata University closed out women's basketball regular-season Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Wednesday night by defeating College of Notre Dame, 80-55.
McTigue's game-high 27 points gives her 1,001 points during her career, and she added eight rebounds. McTigue reached the milestone with a layup just 2:12 into the second half. She had racked up 23 points by halftime.
Chrissy Esbensen added 12 points, eight assists and four steals, while Leah Kuczynski chipped in 10 points and six rebounds. Courtney Murphy and Katie Durkin each finished with seven points.
Notre Dame hung with Immaculata for the first four minutes of the contest, but following a 5-all tie at the 16:25 mark, the Mighty Macs went on a 15-2 run to take a double-digit lead by the 10-minute mark.
The Mighty Macs continued to push its advantage, outscoring the Gators 17-5 during the final five minutes of the first half.
Notre Dame (3-22, 0-16 CSAC) outscored Immaculata 39-33 during the second half but the host Gators had buried themselves too deep with a 47-16 halftime deficit.
The Gators were led by India Scott's double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Immaculata (17-8, 12-4 CSAC) awaits the conclusion of CSAC regular-season play on Thursday evening to determine its opponent in the CSAC Tournament quarterfinal. Immaculata will host a quarterfinal contest on Monday night at Alumnae Hall at 7 p.m.
