Immaculata Rolls Past Keystone, 71-53

– Immaculata University's women's basketball team played four players in double figures as the Mighty Macs defeated the Keystone College Giants, 71-53, on Monday evening in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.

Chelsea McTigue led Immaculata with 20 points and four assists. Kelly Brown came off the bench and provided 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocks for the Mighty Macs. Leah Kuczynski registered a double-double with 11 points and a team-high 10 rebounds and also had three steals, while Chrissy Esbensen also chipped in 11 points and five assists.

Immaculata secured a home quarterfinal CSAC playoff game with the win, improving to 16-8 overall and 11-4 in conference play. Keystone falls to 5-19, 5-10 CSAC.

Keystone scored the opening bucket, and that would be the only time the Giants would lead the entire game. Immaculata outscored Keystone, 24-6, during the 10 minutes following the opening basket to open up a 24-8 advantage with 7:01 left in the first half.

Keystone came within 12 (26-14) with 4:35 to play in the first stanza, but the Mighty Macs led 38-23 at the break. Immaculata shot 45.2 percentage (14-31) from the field during the opening half compared to just 9 of 27 (.333) for Keystone.

Immaculata extended its edge to 20 (45-25) just over three minutes into the second half, outscoring Keystone, 7-2, to begin the half. After the Giants cut the margin to 45-30 at the 16:05 mark, the Mighty Macs quickly pushed the lead to 22 (53-31) with five points coming from Brown.

The closest the Giants came the rest of the way was 62-50 with 4:35 to play in the contest.

Keystone was paced by Melinda Moore's 16 points and nine rebounds. Sarah Barreto also added 10 points for the Giants.

Immaculata concludes the regular season on Wednesday night traveling to College of Notre Dame at 7 p.m.
