IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata University women's basketball squad rolled to a 93-34 victory over visiting Notre Dame of Maryland University Wednesday night at Alumnae Hall in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
Immaculata (6-3, 4-0 CSAC) increased its league winning streak to four, while Notre Dame fell to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference.
Chrissy Esbensen scored a team-high 15 points to lead four Immaculata scorers in double figures. Bridget Welz posted 14 points, four assists, and five steals while Courtney Murphy and Mackie Fitzgerald registered 11 points each.
Notre Dame scored the opening bucket, and that would be the only time the Gators would lead the entire game as Immaculata led as many as 33 points at the 5:48 minute mark of the first half.
Immaculata led 51-18 at the break after shooting 56.3 percent from the field during the first 20 minutes compared to just 8 of 28 (.286) for Notre Dame.
The Mighty Macs opened the second half with a strong 11-0 run during the first five minutes. The Gators answered with an eight point run of their own cutting their deficit to 38 with 11:09 remaining (64-26), but that was as close as it came the rest of the game. The Mighty Macs outscored the Gators 42-16 in the second half.
Notre Dame was led by Imani Stokes with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds while Niccole Brown totaled 13 points in the loss.
Immaculata will be idle until they travel to Nassau, Bahamas to participate in the Bahamas Sunshine Shootout. The Mighty Macs will face Washington & Jefferson on Dec.19 followed by a contest versus Bethany College on Dec. 20.
