IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's basketball team claimed its first Colonial States Athletic Conference win as the Mighty Macs defeated visiting Cedar Crest College, 93-65, on Monday night in the CSAC women's basketball opener for both teams.
The Immaculata attack boasted four scorers in double figures.
Leah Kuczynski led the way with 20 points, shooting 10-for-13 from the floor.
Kelly Brown provided 18 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
Bridget Welz totaled 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, and also had six steals, while
Chrissy Esbensen also chipped in 10 points and four steals.
Immaculata (3-2, 1-0 CSAC) held a slim 29-26 lead with 6:17 to play in the first half before the Falcons knotted the score at 35-all at the 2:06 minute mark. However, the Mighty Macs answered with an 8-0 run and held a 43-35 advantage going into halftime.
The Mighty Macs used a 13-6 run to open the second half and continued to pad its lead throughout the second half. Immaculata did not allow Cedar Crest to get any closer than 20 points for the rest of the way.
Jackie Deegler contributed seven of her nine points and five rebounds in the second half to help propel the Mighty Macs to its third straight win.
Amber Wehry paced the Falcons with 26 points to go along with four rebounds. Lizzy Sunderhaus registered a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds in the losing effort.
Immaculata continues CSAC action on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at Rosemont beginning at 6 p.m.
