Women's Basketball Falls To Elizabethtown, 80-59

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.
– Despite a trio of Mighty Macs in double figures, Immaculata University fell on the road to host Elizabethtown College, 80-59, on Thursday night in non-conference women's basketball action.

Chelsea McTigue paced the Immaculata trio with 13 points and added six rebounds, while Kelly Brown and Rachel Denis each contributed 12 points in the effort. Denis also led the squad with eight rebounds and grabbed three steals. Leah Kuczynski and Bridget Welz each dished out four assists, and Chrissy Esbensen added seven points to her three assists.

The Mighty Macs played tight with the Blue Jays during the first eight minutes of the contest. Immaculata trailed by just four (15-11) after Denis sunk a three-pointer with 15:07 left in the first half.

However, a 29-11 run by Elizabethtown during the 11 minutes following Denis' three, put the Blue Jays ahead, 44-22, with 4:07 remaining in the opening stanza. Elizabethtown took a 49-30 lead into halftime.

Stephanie Ellwood had an Elizabethtown-high 20 points in the contest, and Kaity Snyder recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds. The Blue Jays were 26-for 66 (.394) from the field during the contest, and made 22 of their 30 (.733) free throw attempts.

Immaculata returns home on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. hosting Haverford College.
