IMMACULATA, Pa. - Both
Kacie O'Neill and
Rebecca Whiteman recorded four points for Immaculata, but it was not enough as visiting Arcadia claimed the 16-8 victory on Thursday afternoon in a non-conference women's lacrosse game.
O'Neill and Whiteman each registered their four points on three goals and one assist.
Lauren Bigos was the Mighty Macs' other goal scorer with two tallies.
Immaculata slips to 2-8 overall while the win was Arcadia's first of the season as the Knights are now 1-6.
O'Neill and Whiteman tallied goals just 31 seconds apart to hand the Mighty Macs a 3-2 lead with 24:23 remaining in the first half. Arcadia then took the lead with back-to-back scores less than one minute apart, giving the Knights the 4-3 edge with 20:39 remaining. Immaculata tied the contest at 4-all just 28 seconds later as Whiteman netted a goal on an assist from O'Neill.
However, Arcadia eight of the last nine goals of the first half, running the Knights' halftime lead to 12-5.
The Knights continued its pace early in the second half as Caitlin Braddock had two quick scores, making the score 14-5 atthe 26:07 mark.
O'Neill ended the seven-goal run by Arcadia as she scored unassisted at 23:43. Each team added two goals during the final 23 minutes of play, but the Mighty Macs were not able to overcome their deficit.
Meghan Fallon had a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists for Arcadia. Kreena Patel also registered four four, and Stephanie Holguin tallied a hat-trick and one assist.
Brittany Worthington made six saves in goal for Immaculata in the loss, and Arcadia keeper Evelyn Ciaburri recorded eight stops in net for the win.
Immaculata hits the road for a Colonial States Athletic Conference game against Centenary on Saturday. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
