WINCHESTER, Va. –
Tom Hartney scored four goals and
Ben Tuscai registered five points as Immaculata's men's lacrosse team picked up its first conference win of the season on the road at Shenandoah, 14-4, Wednesday evening.
Immaculata (6-4, 1-2 CSAC) ran out to a 5-1 lead after the first quarter on the strength of Hartney's hat trick. Tuscai posted a goal and an assist in the quarter as well. Shenandoah (2-7, 0-2) mustered just one goal in each of the first two quarters, and then scored twice in the third. But, the Mighty Macs' defense limited the Hornets' opportunities all night.
Tuscai's brother, Dante, posted one goal and two assists for a three-point night. The brother combination from nearby West Chester East High School combined for eight of the team's 19 points.
John Cacchio also registered a hat trick on the night while
Joe Keller scored twice and added an assist.
A seven-goal run that spanned the first two quarters put Immaculata on top 8-1 with four minutes left before halftime.
Andrew Sim made 11 saves, going the distance in the cage for the Mighty Macs. Three separate goalkeepers for the Hornets combined to make 11 saves while allowing 14 goals.
Immaculata returns to Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Centenary.
