BALTIMORE, Md. - The Immaculata University women's lacrosse team team came up short in its regular-season finale on Saturday at the College of Notre Dame, 16-10.
Both the Mighty Macs and Gators had clinched playoff spots in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament. Immaculata falls to 5-10 overall and 3-5 in the CSAC while Notre Dame heads into the plays with a 7-7 overall, 5-3 league mark.
Rebecca Whiteman registered a team-leading six points on two goals and four assists. Whiteman's two goals give her 100 goals for her career.
Lauren Bigos and
Kacie O'Neill paced the Mighty Macs in goals with three each, and
Emily Hallett had two scores. Cheslea Murta also recorded one assist in the game.
The score was tied at 6-6 at halftime, but Notre Dame scored three goals during the first two minutes of the second half, taking a 9-6 lead. Hallett scored at the 27:04 mark, cutting the score to 9-7, but the Gators strung together four more goals for a 13-7 advantage.
Alysia Remaley made her first appearance in goal for the Mighty Macs, and made 11 saves in the loss. Gators' goalie, Emily Langton, made nine stops in the win.
Notre Dame was led offensively by Lauren Terry who scored seven goals, while Allison Terry added five goals and two assists.
Immaculata begins quarterfinal action in the CSAC Tournament on Saturday, May 1, traveling to Gwynedd-Mercy College. No time has been set.
