Strong First Half Keys Women's Lacrosse Win

. - Immaculata University outscored Cedar Crest College 10-2 during the first half, and the Mighty Macs went on to a 16-6 victory over the Falcons in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata improves to 4-9 overall and 3-4 in the CSAC with the win. Cedar Crest falls to 4-7, 0-5 in the league.

Immaculata jumped out to the early 3-0 lead at the 22:49 mark as Rebecca Whiteman scored two goals and assisted on Kacie O'Neill's goal. However, Cedar Crest's Candace Boardwine answered for the Faclons just 16 seconds after Whiteman's goal to make it a 3-1 contest.

Lauren Bigos and O'Neill found the back of the net less than a minute apart, upping the Immaculata lead to 5-1 with 17:52 remaining in the first half. Cedar Crest's Boardwine scored again at 13:17, but the Falcons would go silent the rest of the half. 

Immaculata tallied five unanswered goals during the 13 minutes prior to halftime, making it a 10-2 contest at intermission.

Cedar Crest won the draw control to begin the second half and Tara Fikes quickly made the score, 10-3.  Immaculata answered with four consecutive goals, including three in the string from Bigos, to take the 14-3 lead at the 18:05 mark.

After Cedar Crest scored with 13:51 remaining, O'Neill fired two past the Falcons' keeper, pushing the Mighty Macs advantage to 16-4 with 10:55 left. Cedar Crest had two scores during the final 10 minutes for the final 16-6 margin.

O'Neill finished the game with seven goals and one assist. Whiteman had six points on four goals and two assists, while Bigos also tallied four goals. Lindsey O'Connor accounted for the Mighty Macs' other score.

Immaculata goalkeeper Britt Worthington made 10 saves in the win. Cedar Crest used a trio of keepers, as Kim Katsigianis started and played the first half for the Falcons making nine stops in the loss.

Boardwine led Cedar Crest with three goals and one assist. Amanda Dombroski added two goals and one assist, while Fikes posted one goal and one assist. 

Immaculata plays in front of the home crowd for the final time this season on Wednesday afternoon as it hosts Lancaster Bible at 4 p.m.
