ROSEMONT, Pa. – Kacie O'Neill scored a hat trick to lead 11 different Mighty Mac goal scorers as Immaculata University's women's lacrosse team defeated Rosemont College, 17-1, on Wednesday afternoon.
Immaculata lifts its record to 3-9 overall and 2-4 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference after the league victory today. Rosemont drops to 0-9, 0-5 in the CSAC.
The Mighty Macs led 7-0 just over eight minutes into the contest. O'Neill and Rebecca Whiteman each tallied two goals during the initial spurt. Immaculata would go on to outscore Rosemont 12-0 during the first half. O'Neill scored her hat trick all during the first half, and Emily Hallett had registered two scores by the break.
Stephanie Tedeschi found the back of the net for the second time six minutes into the second half as the Mighty Macs now led 13-0.
Chelsea Reeve ended the Mighty Macs scoring string with 19:33 remaining in the contest as she scored the lone goal for the Ravens.
Immaculata scored four more goals during the final 10 minutes of the contest for the final margin.
Whiteman led the team with five points on two goals and three assists. Jennifer Steinke scored two goals and one assist, to go along with Hallett's and Tedeschi's two scorers. Bridget Cunningham, Lindsey O'Connor, Alysia Remaley, Chelsea Murta, Lauren Bigos and Lindsey Brigman all scored one goal.
Immaculata goalkeeper Britt Worthington picked up the win as she was forced to make just two saves.
Ravens' keeper Chatiera Wiggins played the first 56 minutes in goal, making 10 saves while taking the loss. Simone Green played the final four minutes, making one stop and allowing one goal.
Immaculata returns to Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. as it hosts Cedar Crest College.
