Mighty Macs Run Out To 16-7 Win In Men's Lacrosse

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Immaculata University's men's lacrosse team jumped out early and continued its paced to defeat Centenary College on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium in a Colonial States Athletic Conference tilt.

Immaculata (7-4, 2-2 CSAC) finished with three players with a hat trick, led by Dante Tuscai's four goals and one assist. Dante's brother, Ben Tuscai, also recorded a team-high five points on two goals and three assists. John Cacchio finished with three goals and one assist and Tom Hartney tallied the hat trick.

The Tuscai brothers scored 1:30 apart to begin the game and give Immaculata the 2-0 lead less than two minutes into the game. Centenary's Jason Rieg scored off a pass from Conor Nolan to cut the score in half with five minutes left in the opening quarter.

Immaculata rattled off four straight goals spanning the first and second quarters, extending its advantage to 6-1 with 8:12 left in the first half. Centenary then had two quick strikes, trimming its deficit to 6-3, with 3:43 remaining in the second quarter.

Cacchio scored unassisted 1:34 before the break, handing the Mighty Macs a 7-3 halftime lead.

Immaculata added three more goals to begin the third quarter, and outscored Centenary 6-1 during the third quarter alone, taking a 13-4 edge into the final stanza.

Each squad scored three goals during the fourth for the 16-7 final score.

Immaculata won 16 of the 25 face-offs and was 2-for-2 on extra-man opportunities, while also scoring two man-up goals.

The Mighty Macs held a 41-24 advantage on ground balls, led by a team-best seven ground balls by Kevin Glenn. Robert Concannon, Chris DeFeo and Andrew Sim all collected four ground balls apiece, and DeFeo caused a squad-best four Cyclone turnovers.

Sim started and played the first 54 minutes in the crease for the Mighty Macs, making 16 saves in the win. Max Bonhage played the final six minutes with two stops.

Dan Webster and Rieg each tallied two goals for Centenary, and Jeffrey Prudent and Nolan each added one goal and one assist to the effort. Cyclones' starting goal keeper Kyle McVay played the first 13-plus minutes allowing three goals and making no saves. McVay was replaced by Kyle Burgess, who played the rest of the way, making 19 saves.

Immaculata returns to action next Saturday, April 17 against Gwynedd-Mercy at 1 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
