IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University's women's lacrosse squad began the Colonial States Athletic Conference portion of the schedule on Tuesday afternoon suffering a 17-5 loss to visiting Cabrini College at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Kacie O'Neil led Immaculata (0-4, 0-1) with a hat trick and finished with four points after adding one assist.
Emily Hallett and
Rebecca Whiteman were the Mighty Macs' other goal scorers with one apiece, and Whiteman added one assist.
Cabrini (2-1, 1-0 CSAC) had two players register a hat trick, led by Amanda Alexandrowicz' four goals and one assist. Danielle Rothermel was the other Cavalier with three tallies. Jacky McDermott also recorded three points in the game all on assists.
The Cavaliers posted the first 10 goals of the contest during the first 17 minutes of play, and Cabrini converted on four free position opportunities during the stretch. Alexandrowicz had three goals and Jamie O'Hanlon accounted for two in the run.
Whiteman scored on a feed from O'Neill with 12:01 remaining in the first half to put the Mighty Macs on the board. However, that was Immaculata's only goal of the half as Cabrini led 13-1 at the break.
Hallett and O'Neill scored the first two goals of the second half with 22:04 and 13:44 remaining, respectively. The Cavaliers then tallied four straight, the last coming with 3:26 left.
Immaculata ended the contest with two quick scores from O'Neill with 1:39 and 17 seconds remaining for the final 17-5 margin.
Britt Worthington started and played a full game making 16 saves along the way in the loss. Kate Schmid started in goal for Cabrini and played the first half making five saves. Gianna Porretta came on in the second half and finished the game making four stops and allowing the Mighty Macs four goals.
Immaculata plays a non-league game against Bryn Mawr on Thursday at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
