Mighty Macs Down Cedar Crest, 89-61

ALLENTOWN, Pa.
– Immaculata placed four players in double figures as the Mighty Macs' women's basketball squad defeated host Cedar Crest College on Thursday night in Colonial States Athletic Conference action, 89-61.

Bridget Welz led the way for Immaculata with 20 points, including a 7-for-7 performance from the foul line. Welz also added four assists, three steals and six rebounds. Chelsea McTigue chipped in 13 points while Jackie Deegler added 11 points. Chrissy Esbensen finished with 12 points, nine rebounds, four steals and four assists.

Kelly Brown registered with nine points and six rebounds, and Rachel Denis had eight rebounds to go along with four points.

Lizzy Sunderhaus was Cedar Crest's leading scorer with a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds.

Immaculata got out the gate quickly and had built a double-digit lead less than eight minutes into the contest. The Mighty Macs continued to pull away with a 46-32 lead by halftime.

The Mighty Macs finished the night 23-for-26 (.885) from the foul line to spur the effort.

Immaculata hosts Centenary College on Monday night at 6 p.m. It will mark the Mighty Macs' first home CSAC contest of the 2010-11 campaign.
