IMMACULATA, Pa. – The fifth-seeded Immaculata University women's soccer team has gone on the road and upset both the first and fourth seed in the Colonial States Athletic Conference Tournament to reach the championship game for the first time in program history. The Mighty Macs now head to Centenary College on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. to face the third-seeded Cyclones at Cyclone Field.
Immaculata (8-10-2) earned the right to play for the CSAC crown after defeating top seed Cabrini in the semifinals on Wednesday evening. The Cavaliers and Mighty Macs played to a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of play, and after 13 rounds and 26 penalty kicks, Immaculata outlasted Cabrini, 8-7. Jessica Gaburo clinched the win for the Mighty Macs after burying her kick in the lower left corner.
The Mighty Macs had reached the round of four by defeating No. 4 Gwynedd-Mercy, 1-0, in the quarterfinals on Monday night.

Centenary (13-7-1) advances to the finals after edging sixth seed Neumann, 2-1 in double overtime in the quarterfinals, and upsetting second-seeded Marywood also in penalty kicks in the semifinals. The Cyclones and Pacers were knotted at 2-2 after regulation and the two overtime periods, but the Cyclones advanced, 7-6, in the 11th round of penalty kicks.
This is the third straight season Immaculata had qualified for the conference tournament, and this season marks the deepest run into the postseason for the Mighty Macs. In its two previous appearances, Immaculata fell in the quarterfinal round to Centenary, 1-0, in 2008 and Gwynedd-Mercy, 2-0, last season.
Saturday marks the first CSAC women's soccer championship game appearance for both Immaculata and Centenary, with the winner earning the crown and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Centenary won the regular-season meeting against Immaculata, 3-0, at Draper Walsh Stadium on Sept. 25. The last time Immaculata was in Hackettstown, N.J. on Oct. 20, 2009, the Mighty Macs were 3-2 winners against the Cyclones.
