IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University swept Keystone College, 3-0, in Saturday afternoon's Colonial States Athletic Conference volleyball match. The Mighty Macs downed the Giants with scores of 25-15, 26-24 and 25-20.
Immaculata improves to 5-17 overall and 3-5 in the conference while Keystone slips to 10-16, 1-9 CSAC.
Jessica Egan led the Mighty Macs with seven kills, three blocks, five service aces and six digs.
Allison Lang and
Lindsey Silvestro each added six kills and one block.
Tamara Dabady chipped in five kills and two blocks.
Kathleen Haefner recorded 25 assists for the Mighty Macs.
Brooke Schreffler made a team-high 21 digs, and
Courtney Sahm had nine digs.
After cruising to the 25-15 win in the opening set, Immaculata had to come-from-behind in the second set. Keystone used an early run in the second set to get ahead of Immaculata, 8-3. However, the Mighty Macs were able to outscore the Giants over the next 11 points to even the match at 11-all.
Keystone went up by three (14-11), but Immaculata rallied for five straight points to take its first lead of the set, 16-14. The squads traded points, tying three times before the Giants regained the advantage, and went to to hold a 23-19 edge. Four consecutive Mighty Mac points once again evened the score (23-23), and Immaculata won the match 26-24 with three straight points to close out the set.
After going back-and-forth early in the third, Immaculata saw its lead grow to 17-9, forcing Keystone to call a timeout. The Giants chipped away at the lead, closing the gap to 23-19, but the Mighty Macs were able to close out the match before Keystone made a comeback.
Immaculata travels to Centenary on Tuesday, Oct. 26, for a 7 p.m. match against the Cyclones.
