Men's Lacrosse Drops 17-13 Game At Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. - Marywood University defeated Immaculata University Wednesday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action, 17-13.

With the win, the Pacers improve to 8-4 on the season and remain perfect at 5-0 in conference play while the Mighty Macs fall to 3-8 overall and 1-3 in the CSAC.

Immaculata's Tom Hartney and Kevin Glenn each scored goals in the opening 3:09 to take an early 2-0 advantage before Marywood responded with a goal at the 11:25 mark, and tied the score 23 seconds later, 2-2.

The two teams ended the opening period tied at 4-4 after Marywood's traded two goals with a pair by the visitors Joe Keller and John Cacchio to close the period.

The Pacers scored the only two tallies of the second period, and Marywood held a 6-4 halftime lead.

The Mighty Macs battle back to tie the score 7-7 at the 9:38 mark of the third quarter after getting three goals from Keller, Hartney and Dante Tuscai. The two teams traded goals before Immaculata reclaimed their first lead since late in the first quarter when Brendan Dinneen scored a man-up goal for the Mighty Macs with 6:56 remaining in the third quarter.

Marywood responded with the next five goals of the contest, and held a 12-9 lead when Ryne Boyle scored just nine seconds into the final 15 minutes of play for the Pacers.

A goal by Immaculata's Tim Flanigan brought the visitors within two goals with 13:33 to play, but that is as close as the Mighty Macs would come as the Pacers outscored the Mighty Macs 5-3 over the final 9:09 of the contest.

Cacchio paced the Mighty Macs' attack with two goals and three assists for five points. Hartney finished with a team-high four goals and Keller added a hat trick. Tuscai registered one goal and one assist, and Dinneen, Flanigan and Glenn each posted one goal each.

Boyle led Marywood's attack with five goals and one assist while Nick Parks finished with four goals and one helper as the Pacers notched their sixth-consecutive victory.

Eric Luhrmann made 11 saves for the Pacers in the cage to pick up the win while Andrew Sim made 17 stops in a losing effort between Immaculata's pipes.

Immaculata will return to action this Saturday when travels to Centenary. Face-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
