Men's Lacrosse Falls Short At King's

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Immaculata University men's lacrosse fell just short of the comeback as it dropped an 11-8 decision at King's College Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Brendan Dinneen and Tom Hartney led the Mighty Macs with three goals apiece, while Joe Keller posted two goals. Zach Krytzer added two assists while John Cacchio had one assist.

King's (1-1) jumped to an early 5-1 lead behind two goals from TJ Lyon, but Immaculata (0-2) closed the second quarter with two goals during the final five minutes to trail at halftime, 5-3.

Keller registered his second goal of the afternoon just 18 seconds into the third quarter, bringing Immaculata within one, 5-4. The Monarchs notched three goals during the next seven minutes to extend King's lead to 8-4 with 7:21 remaining in the third quarter.

Hartney halted the Monarch's spurt with an assisted tally with 4:55 left in the third, but King's added three more consecutive goals to take an 11-5 advantage with 10:30 remaining in the contest. Dinneen and Hartney each rounded off their hat-tricks tallying goals during the final 7:07.

Lyon finished with four goals for King's while John Doran added three goals and one assist. Daniel Carducci also chipped in one goal and two assists.

Immaculata's Andrew Sim made 19 saves in the loss. Tim Cassi earned the win for King's, finishing with six saves.

The Mighty Macs will be back in action on Wednesday, March 11, when they host Elizabethtown in the home opener at 4 p.m.
