College of Notre Dame Defeats Women's Lacrosse, 13-11

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's women's lacrosse team fell to visiting College of Notre Dame, 13-11, Saturday afternoon in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata slips to 0-7 overall and 0-3 in the CSAC while Notre Dame improves to 2-6 overall, 2-1 in the league.

Claire Lichty registered four goals and added one assist to lead the Mighty Macs effort. Lichty's five points today pushed her to the 100 career point mark with 90 goals and 10 assists.

Rebecca Whiteman also tallied five points on three goals and two assists, and Kacie O'Neill added two goals and one helper. Emily Hallett and Rachel Coyle each registered one goal apiece.

Whiteman found the back of the cage for Immaculata just 1:45 into the game, but Ebony Rivers answered for Notre Dame 22 seconds later. O'Neill then put the Mighty Macs back ahead with 27:18 remaining in the first half but it took the Gators just 17 seconds this time to knot the score after Lauren Terry fired one past IU's keeper.

After Notre Dame pulled ahead, 3-2, Immaculata tallied three consecutive goals to lead, 5-3, with 13:39 to play in the opening half. The Gators then rattled off five straight goals, including three free-position goals, to regain the advantage, 8-5, with just 1:51 to play before halftime. Lichty scored her first goal of the contest on a free-position shot with 1:05 on the clock, and the Mighty Macs trailed, 8-6, at intermission. 

The Gators got up by four goals with 8:45 left in the contest, their largest margin of the game, before Lichty netted two straight unassisted goals for the Mighty Macs cutting the lead back to two, 12-10, with 5:45 to play. However, Immaculata was not able to get any closer than the two-goal differential.

Brittany Worthington made 13 saves in goal for Immaculata, and Notre Dame goalie Amanda Arkwright also recorded 13 stops as both keepers played a full 60 minutes.

Lauren Terry and Ashley Demski each recorded hat tricks while Demski added one assist. Kristen Clarke finished with three points for the Gators on two goals and one assist.

Immaculata next plays Centenary on Tuesday, March 31 at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
