Arcadia Overtakes Immaculata Women's Lacrosse, 11-8

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Kacie O'Neill scored four goals for Immaculata, but it was not enough to overcome Arcadia, 11-8, Monday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium in non-conference women's lacrosse action.

O'Neill's four-goal performance led the Mighty Macs (0-5) while Claire Lichty tallied three goals. Rebecca Whiteman added one goal and one assist.

Shannon Bustin had a game-high six points on three goals and three assists for Ursinus (2-2). Jenni Groves also tallied a hat-trick, and Erin Cunningham finished with three assists. Melanie Mark and Stephanie Holguin each added two goals for the Knights.

Immaculata scored the opening goal 2:12 into the contest, but Arcadia's Groves scored for the Knights a little over seven minutes apart to put Arcadia ahead, 2-1, with 14:14 remaining in the first half.

O'Neill then found the back of the cage twice, giving the Mighty Macs the 3-2 advantage. However, it would be the last time Immaculata led the contest. The Knights scored two goals to end the half, and Arcadia led 4-3 at intermission.

Arcadia scored first in the second half, but Lichty slipped one past the Knights' goalie to keep it a one-goal game with 22:34 left in the game.

Immaculata was still down one goal, 7-6, with 17:10 remaining when Arcadia rattled off three consecutive goals in a little less than 10 minutes to go ahead 10-6. O'Neill and Whiteman tried to bring the Mighty Macs back with a goal each during the final 4:13, but Immaculata wouldn't get any closer.

Brittany Worthington made 10 saves in the crease for Immaculata in the loss, and Arcadia keeper Evelyn Ciaburri recorded 11 saves in 60 minutes between the pipes for the win.

Immaculata hits the road again on Wednesday, traveling to Neumann for a 4 p.m. draw.
