Women's Basketball Falls To Delaware Valley, 81-64

IMMACULATA, Pa. - Immaculata University's women's basketball team fell to visiting Delaware Valley College, 81-64, in non-conference action on Monday, December 21, at Alumnae Hall.

The Aggies (6-3) jumped out to a 23-3 lead, but the Mighty Macs (6-3) chipped away at the deficit.  Chelsea McTigue converted a three-point play to pull Immaculata within nine, 36-27, with 6:25 left in the first half.  Delaware Valley pushed its lead back to 13, 42-29, with 4:46 remaining and held on for a 46-35 halftime margin.

After the Aggies scored the first basket of the second half, Bridget Welz answered with a jumper to cut the lead to 48-37 with 19:33 left in the second half.  The Aggies used a 13-1 run to take a 61-38 lead at the 15:54 mark en route to the 81-64 victory.

McTigue lead Immaculata with 16 points, while Kelly Brown recorded 15 points and Chrissy Esbensen added 14 points.  Leah Kuczynski pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.  

Kim Vennera scored a game-high 31 points to lead the Aggies, while Brittney Zimmerman registered 20 points.  Emily Soper amassed a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Immaculata returns to action on Tuesday, December 29, when they face Albright College at the Sunsational Hoops Classic in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
