Women's Basketball Wins Tip-Off Tournament With Victory Over Rosemont

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Freshman Leah Kuczynski recorded her first career double-double effort to lead Immaculata to the Bryn Mawr Tip-off Tournament title with a 65-33 win over Rosemont in the championship game.

Kuczynski accomplished the feat with 20 points and 17 rebounds, both team highs. Junior Chelsea McTigue added 13 points, and the Mighty Macs' got 11 points from freshman Chrissy Esbensen.

McTigue earned tournament MVP honors, while Esbensen was named to the all-tournament team for their efforts during the Mighty Macs' two games.

Immaculata (3-0) and Rosemont played neck-and-neck during the opening four minutes, as the Mighty Macs held no more than a two-point lead and the score was tied twice. Rosemont broke a 4-all tie with a three pointer from Heather Daneker with 15:09 remaining in the first as, and the Ravens would take a nine-point lead, 15-6, on another Daneker three-pointer with 12:42 remaining.

Rosemont's lead would be short-lived as Immaculata went on a 14-2 spurt over seven minutes, taking a three-point lead, 20-17. Kuczynski and McTigue would each contribute six points during the run. Overall, during the final 11:10 of the first half, the Mighty Macs outscored the Ravens 21-4.

Immaculata continued to open up the game throughout the second half, with the final 65-33 margin being the Mighty Macs' largest margin of the contest. 

Rosemont (1-2) was led by Daneker's 11 points while Ashley Montecchio had a team-best eight rebounds in the losing effort.

Immaculata will next be in action on Monday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. when the Mighty Macs travel to Marywood to begin the Colonial States Athletic Conference slate against the Pacers.
