Immaculata Women Cruise Past Philadelphia Biblical, 67-49

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata University women's basketball team cruised to a 67-49 victory over visiting Philadelphia Biblical Thursday evening in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game.

Dominique Murray registered a double-double to lead the Mighty Macs in both scoring and rebounding with 15 points and 13 boards. Kasey Hicks tallied 13 points, nine rebounds and seven assists while Kelly Brown added 11 points and nine rebounds.

Immaculata improves its record to 7-10 overall and 3-5 in the CSAC while Philadelphia Biblical falls to 3-12 overall and 1-8 in the league. 

Immaculata jumped ahead early, 10-0, by the 15:06 mark as Murray and Brown each recorded four points in the opening spurt. Philadelphia Biblical got on the board at the 14:40 mark as Dani Norton knocked down both ends of the one-and-one.

After beginning the contest 0-for-8 from the field during the first seven minutes, Norton hit a three-pointer with 12:58 remaining in the opening half, cutting the margin to 12-5. However, Immaculata went on a 9-0 run to push its advantage to 16 (21-5) at the 9:34 mark.

Immaculata saw its lead balloon to as many as 23 (30-7) with 5:46 remaining in the opening period, and led 35-14 at intermission.

The Mighty Macs were 14 of 34 (.412) from the field during the first half compared to the Crimson Eagles' 4-for-22 (.182). Immaculata also dominated the glass early on, outrebounding Philadelphia Biblical by a 28-13 margin.

The second half began with the two squads trading baskets, but Immaculata continued to hold at least a 20-point advantage midway through the second half. With the Mighty Macs leading 52-29 at the 10:18 mark, the Crimson Eagles put together a 7-0 run to trim their deficit to 52-36 with seven minutes to play.

Philadelphia Biblical's comeback attempt was short-lived as Immaculata went on a 10-1 run, taking its largest advantage of the contest, 62-37, with just 3:17 left in regulation.

Norton had a game-high 25 points and five rebounds for the Crimson Eagles. Summer Mullen added 12 points while Lindsey Fornwalt led PBU with seven rebounds.

Immaculata next hosts Gwynedd-Mercy on Saturday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m.
