IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's women's lacrosse team fell 17-10 to College of Notre Dame on Tuesday afternoon in a Pennsylvania Athletic Conference game at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Immaculata slips to 1-6 overall and 1-5 in the PAC with the loss, while Notre Dame improves to 5-4 overall, 3-3 PAC.
Jenna Specht registered three goals and Claire Lichty and Katie Goldsborough tallied two goals apiece for Immaculata.
The Mighty Macs scored just 13 seconds into the game as Audra Dinapoli found the back of the cage for a 1-0 lead. That advantage would be short-lived as the Gators scored five straight goals in a span of less than five minutes, to put Notre Dame on top, 5-1, with 24:53 still to play in the first half.
Lichty scored for Immaculata with 23:48 remaining in the opening stanza to stop Notre Dame's run. However, the Gators would again go spurting, this time for four unanswered goals, and the 9-2 lead with 18:47 left on the first-half clock.
The Gators led 14-3 at the break, and extended their margin to 15-3 before the Mighty Macs found the back of the cage. Specht and Lichty scored back-to-back goals for Immaculata, cutting Notre Dame's advantage to 15-5.
Notre Dame scored again with 18:58 remaining in the game. Immaculata again put together a two-goal string as Goldsborough and Specht capitalized on free-position attempts to make the score 16-7 with 11:41 remaining.
The Gators put their final goal across with 9:12 to play in the game, and the Mighty Macs scored the final three goals of the game to make the final score 17-10.
Dinapoli, Megan DiCicco and Rebecca Whiteman each scored one goal, and Whiteman added an assist. Claire Giambi, making her first start in goal, made seven saves.
Lauren Terry tallied four goals and one assist to lead Notre Dame while Anne Shippen recorded four goals. Amanda Arkwright allowed seven goals and made 11 saves in the cage in the first 51:22 for the Gators.
Immaculata next plays Widener on Thursday, April 10, at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
