Immaculata Cruises Past Cedar Crest, 12-5

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Rebecca Whiteman posted three goals and four points to lead Immaculata's women's lacrosse squad to a 12-5 victory over visiting Cedar Crest in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference action on Thursday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

The Mighty Macs (1-4, 1-3 PAC) outscored the Falcons (1-8, 1-5) 3-0 during the game's first 13 minutes to lead, 3-0, with 17:02 remaining in the opening half. Cedar Crest got on the board with a game at the 13:45 mark, but Immaculata again scored a string of three straight goals. The hosts enjoyed a comfortable 6-2 advantage at the break.

Immaculata opened the second half scoring six goals within the first 15 minutes. Whiteman scored three goals during the stretch, including the final two goals of the string, putting the Mighty Macs ahead, 12-2, with 15:13 still to play.

Cedar Crest found the back of the net three times during the final 12 minutes, capitalizing on two free position attempts, but Immaculata held on for the 12-5 win.

Immaculata was able to control the tempo of the game by securing 13 of the 19 draw controls. Whiteman led the way with five draw controls for the Mighty Macs. Immaculata also held a decisive 42-20 edge on shots, including a 25-8 advantage in the first half.

Katie Goldsborough registered a hat trick while Lauren Bigos finished with two goals. Claire Lichty finished with two points on a goal and an assist. Jenna Specht and Jenn Norris each scored a goal.

Melanie Suarez recorded 10 saves in goal, picking up her first win of the season. Davin Ursini started and played the first 43:22 for the Falcons, making 15 saves, while Kara Malysza made three saves in the final 16:38.

Brianna Adam and Brittany Symbol each scored two goals for Cedar Crest.

Immaculata hits the road on Saturday, April 5, when it travels to Centenary for a 1 p.m. tilt.
