Marywood Slips By Immaculata, 10-7

IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University men's lacrosse team pulled to within two goals with just under five minutes remaining in the game, but Marywood proved to be too much as the Pacers picked up a 10-7 win at Draper Walsh Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

The Mighty Macs fall to 3-7 overall and 2-3 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference. Marywood sits at 7-3 on the year with the victory and 4-2 in the conference.

Immaculata was led by Brendan Dinneen, who scored four goals, tying his season high. Tom Hartney, Alan Lorentz and Geoff Lorentz each netted one goal and one assist for the Mighty Macs. Zach Krytzer registered two assists during the game.

Immaculata led only once during the contest, after it jumped out to a 1-0 lead as Dinneen scored his first goal of the game off a Krytzer assist at the 12:12 mark of the first quarter. Nick Parks notched Marywood's first goal of the afternoon at the 8:23 mark of the first quarter. Ryne Boyle followed shortly after with two tallies to end the first quarter with Marywood on top 3-1.

However, a 2-0 Immaculata run to start the second quarter would tie the game for the Mighty Macs. A. Lorentz found the back of the cage with 11:42 to play, and Dinneen scored on another Krytzer feed with 4:44 remaining in the half. George Downey IV ended the Immaculata run with a goal just 11 seconds before the end of the half to send the Pacers into intermission with the 4-3 advantage.

Dinneen would score his third goal to start the third quarter and knot the score at 4-all, but a 3-0 Marywood run would sway momentum back to the Pacers.  Immaculata would not go away though as G. Lorentz, Dinneen and Hartney would score three of the games next five goals to pull Immaculata to within two at 9-7. Marywood secured the victory as Will Roerden scored with 2:11 remaining in the contest and went on for the 10-7 win.

Downey registered a hat-trick, and the Pacers got two goals and one assist from Roerden and Parks.

Andrew Sim made 19 saves for the afternoon and Jesse Habich recorded 16 to earn the win in the net for Marywood.

Immaculata will travel to Cabrini on Saturday, April 19. The game is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
