Immaculata Downed By Alvernia, 20-11

READING, Pa. – Alvernia College defeat Immaculata University, 20-11, on Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference women's lacrosse action.

Claire Lichty paced the Mighty Macs with three goals, while Jenna Specht and Jenn Norris each tallied two goals apiece.

Alvernia opened up with back-to-back goals and the Crusaders (2-8, 2-3 PAC) never trailed. Immaculata (1-8, 1-6 PAC) got its first goal from Audra Dinapoli 6:34 into the game as she was successful on her free position shot. The Crusaders then scored three straight goals in just over two and half minutes for a 5-1 lead.

The scoring went back and forth over the middle 10 minutes of the first period, before Alvernia capped the first half with the final four goals of the frame for a 12-5 lead at the break.

The second half began with the two teams trading goals until the Mighty Macs got back-to-back from Jess Hanna and Tabitha Reilly, to trail 15-9 with 19:51 remaining in the second half.

Dinapoli, Hanna, Reilly and Diane Quintanilla each added one goal for Immaculata. Claire Giambi took the loss in the cage, recording 13 saves.

McKenna Shafer scored nine goals to pace the Alvernia offense. Tara Walls finished the day with four goals and an assist for the Crusaders. Janelle Fulmer and Amanda Odenwalt combined to make 14 saves in the win.

Immaculata will travel to Marywood University on Tuesday, April 15, at 4 p.m.
