IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata's women's soccer team won its second consecutive contest on Wednesday afternoon as it defeated visiting Goucher College, 3-2, in non-conference action at Draper Walsh Stadium.
Immaculata improves its record to 4-7-2 overall, and it marked the Mighty Macs first non-league win of the season. Goucher dips to 5-6-1 overall.
Goucher's McKenna Wilkinson scored first at 8:58 on a break-away that she put past Immaculata's Jessica Gaburo.
Immaculata answered 10 minutes later as Anne Marie Popgoshev took a rocket shot that got past a diving Goucher goalkeeper, hit the left post and deflected in the goal off the goalie's back.
The scored was tied 1-1 at the break and neither team found the back of the net until the Gophers' Sarah Lodge scored in the 61st minute to give Goucher a 2-1 advantage.
Athena Campbell tied the game at 2-all in the 65th minute as she took a pass from Courtney Helm and scored from wide open in the box.
Zena Tracey put the game away as she had the game-winning goal at 71:33 off a shot from the top of the box that rolled under the Gophers' keepers arm.
Immaculata held a 19-7 advantage in shots, and a 7-4 lead in corner kicks.
Gaburo played all 90 minutes in goals and made four saves. Kellen Matthews had a complete game in the cage for Goucher, recording eight stops.
The Mighty Macs return to Colonial States Athletic Conference action on Saturday hosting Neumann at 1 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
