Immaculata University women's soccer team posted its third straight victory to open the 2007 season with a 1-0 win over Albright College on Wednesday, September 5, in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Senior Kelli Ortega scored the only goal of the game off a breakaway at 42:40. After being held without a shot (8-0) in the first half, the Mighty Macs responded by outshooting the Lions 5-1 in the second half, including the game-winner by Ortega.
Freshman Jessica Gaburo recorded six saves en route to her first career shutout.
Albright outshot Immaculata 9-5, but the Mighty Macs held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Immaculata (3-0) returns to action on Monday, September 10, when they host Penn State - Berks in its home opener. Kick-off is set for 4 pm.
