Mighty Macs Win First Game Of The Season

Sophomore Claire Lichty powered Immaculata University to an 8-6 win over Cententary College, its first victory of the season, in a steady rain on Friday, March 23, at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Lichty amassed four goals and an assist, while senior Jenn Hogg registered one goal. Junior Kaitie Goldsborough and sophomores Jenn Norris and Meghan Wood tallied one goal each, while sophomore Claire Giambi totaled one assist.

After the Cyclones' Megan Mars scored the first goal of the game at 23:34, the Mighty Macs scored five unanswered goals, including two by Lichty to take a 5-1 lead into intermission.

Centenary tallied the first goal of the second half, but Immaculata answered with a goal by Lichty at 28:53, to give the Mighty Macs a 6-2 lead. However, the Cyclones scored back-to-back goals from Kiti Ovaskainen and Mars to cut Immaculata's lead to 6-4 with 26:09 remaining. The Mighty Macs put the game away with goals by Lichty (13:33) and Hogg (8:38).

Junior Sarah DiSimone registered 14 saves for Immaculata (1-3), while Laura Davis totaled nine for Centenary (1-1).
