Immaculata Falls In Four Overtimes

Immaculata University women's lacrosse team battled Neumann College through four overtime sessions, before falling 7-6, in Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PAC) action on Wednesday, March 21, in Immaculata, PA.

Gabby D'Ambrosio scored the game-winner with 0:31 remaining in the fourth overtime to propel the Knights to the 7-6 victory.

Neumann scored the game's first three goals, before Claire Lichty put the Mighty Macs on the board with an unassisted tally at 14:42 of the first half. Immaculata tied the game at 3-3 with goals from Jenn Hogg at 10:00 and Lichty at 8:40.

The Knights' Colleen Finnegan broke the 3-3 halftime tie at 17:42 of the second half, but the Mighty Macs tied the game when Lichty found the back of the net off a pass from Jenna Specht at 24:50. Courtney Murphy gave Neumann a 5-4 lead with a tally at 16:05, but Lichty scored once again at 14:20 to tie the game at 5-5 and send it into overtime.

In the first overtime, which is not sudden-victory, Murphy broke the tie for the Knights with a goal at 2:03. However, Lichty tied the game with her fifth goal of the afternoon at 2:00 of the second overtime. That goal extended the game to a sudden-victory overtime; first goal wins. After a scoreless third overtime, D'Ambrosio won the game for Neumann with a goal at 0:31.

Sara DiSimone recorded 20 saves for Immaculata, while Caitlin O'Shea registered 13 saves for the Knights.
