Immaculata University women's basketball team defeated the University of Virgin Islands 80-55 in the opening game of the Sunsational Invitational on Friday, December 29, in the Virgin Islands.

 Senior co-captain MAry Kate Pawlowski paced the Mighty Macs (5-5) with 23 points, while fellow senior and co-captain Meg Legere added 17 points. Legere is 12 points shy of becoming the 16th player in women's basketball history to collect 1,000-career points
