IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University Director of Athletics and Recreation Paul Murphy have announced the hiring of Eric Burns as the University's new Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach.

Burns arrives at Immaculata following a successful collegiate coaching stint at NCAA Division II Goldey-Beacom College, where he served as Associate Head Coach before taking over as Head Women's Tennis Coach in January 2025. He has more than a decade of coaching experience at both the collegiate and high school levels, along with an extensive background in player and program development.

"Eric has demonstrated success at every level of coaching, from developing championship-caliber high school programs to recruiting and coaching nationally ranked student-athletes in NCAA Division II. His passion for teaching the game, commitment to student-athlete development, and proven leadership make him an outstanding fit to lead our men's and women's tennis programs."

During his tenure at Goldey-Beacom, Burns compiled a 22-14 overall record, including a 14-10 mark after assuming head coaching duties midway through the 2024-25 season. Under his leadership, the Lightning earned an ITA Division II National Team Ranking of No. 47 in March 2025.

Burns also made an immediate impact on the recruiting trail, signing a player who climbed to No. 28 in the ITA National Singles Rankings while earning First Team All-CACC honors. He also recruited a Second Team All-CACC selection, coached multiple all-conference performers, and the CACC Rookie of the Year. The program was also recognized with the 2025 CACC Team Sportsmanship Award.

Before entering the collegiate ranks, Burns enjoyed tremendous success as the Head Boys and Girls Tennis Coach at Pequea Valley High School from 2011-22. During that span, he amassed 212 combined victories, leading the girls' program to a 111-38 record and the boy's team to a 101-66 mark.

His high school coaching career was highlighted by leading the Pequea Valley boys to the 2019 PIAA AA State Championship. Burns was named Lancaster-Lebanon League Coach of the Year three times and served as the league's district representative from 2017-22 while developing numerous district, league, and state-level competitors.

In addition to his team coaching experience, Burns founded and directed the Pequea Valley Junior Tennis program from 2011-23. Under his leadership, participation grew from just 19 players to more than 100, while the program helped develop over 20 collegiate tennis players.

Burns has also served as a teaching professional at Delcastle Tennis Center, conducting junior and adult clinics with an emphasis on doubles strategy and team development.

Away from the court, Burns brings more than 17 years of business operations management experience, including budgeting, personnel management, strategic planning, and organizational leadership.
A graduate of Bloomsburg University, Burns earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education and Social Studies in 1993.

Burns will oversee all aspects of the Immaculata men's and women's tennis programs, including recruiting, player development, practice planning, match preparation, and program administration.
