IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata flag football is back on the gridiron on Saturday for their 2026 season opener. Leading the way is new head coach
Bill Coddington, who was the team's assistant coach last year.
Coddington said despite a somewhat-new roster due to some graduating seniors, the team will be ready to play on both sides of the ball.
"[The] IU women's flag team has been working hard since the fall," Coddington said. "After losing a strong group of seniors to graduation, returning players from last year and an injection of several talented freshmen have helped the team look efficient and disciplined offensively and defensively."
Preseason Overview The season begins with a home tri-match against reigning-conference-champion Marymount, and Holy Family. A trip to Centenary (N.J.) segues into a home date with Chestnut Hill and Neumann for Senior Day. The Mighty Macs embark on a three-game road trip that lasts until early April.
April opens with Immaculata going to Penn State Schuylkill for a tri-match that also includes Centenary (N.J.). The Mighty Macs' final regular season appearance at Draper Walsh Stadium will welcome Eastern and Marywood to campus. The regular season concludes at Chestnut Hill to play the host and Neumann.
Conference playoffs go from April 21-25.
Roster Check The Mighty Macs have nine returning players from the 2025 roster. They are
Tiara Lawler,
Sam Salvatore,
Natalie Dodd,
Samantha Rivera,
Theresa Jappah,
Emma Bouska,
Eliana Szatkowski,
Caia Harris, and
Ashanti Leon.
Coddington named four captains for 2026, and outside of the captains, there are a few players that have stood out to him.
"Our team captains for the season are three juniors –
Ashanti Leon (center and linebacker),
Caia Harris (running back and linebacker), and
Natalie Dodd (multiple offensive positions and linebacker/cornerback) – and sophomore
Tiara Lawler (running back and outside linebacker)," Coddington said. "
Theresa Jappah, sophomore all-Atlantic East defensive player – returns, along with sophomore
Eliana Szatkowski, who contributed seven touchdowns as a receiver last year and [had] five interceptions. [Two interceptions were] returned for touchdowns from her safety position."
Welcome to the Team Seven freshmen and one transfer make up Coddington's new recruits.
The Mighty Macs' freshmen are
Frankie Brunkel,
Ava Vinovrski,
Jaclyn Molinini,
Jordan Williamson,
Maura Hambleton,
Taylor Eagan, and
Devan Cosgrove.
Ellie O'Mara is a graduate student who transferred from nearby West Chester University.
Coddington said the newcomers will be part of the team's plans, especially early in the season.
"Our starting quarterback will be freshman
Devan Cosgrove from Bishop Shanahan – she also plays linebacker," Coddington said. "
Jaclyn Molinini…from St. Joseph by the Sea in N.Y. will be a two-way starter at cornerback and receiver.
Frankie Brunkel from Archbishop Ryan will…be starting as an outside linebacker, while seeing plenty of time as a receiver.
Taylor Eagan from Bonner and Prendie will be a starting safety and receiver. Freshman
Ava Vinovrski will…see time as a receiver and defensive player."
Season Outlook Despite roster changes for the 2026 squad, Coddington said Immaculata is still aiming for another playoff run.
"The team hopes to return to the playoffs in an extremely competitive Atlantic East Conference," he said.
