Women's Flag Football Falls to Marymount in AEC Semifinals

ST. DAVID'S, Pa. – The Immaculata women's flag football team fell to Marymount 19-0 in their Atlantic East Conference semifinal at Eastern University on Saturday afternoon. Immaculata battled throughout the entire contest but was unable to find an offensive breakthrough against Marymount.

The Mighty Macs finish their season 15-4 overall, they were 13-3 in Atlantic East Conference play and earned their second consecutive trip to the AEC semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYMOUNT
  • The Mighty Macs showed early promise, forcing a turnover on Marymount's opening drive when Jaclyn Molinini came away with an interception to set up Immaculata in favorable field position. The defense continued to keep things tight through the opening quarter, with Theresa Jappah leading a strong effort on that side of the ball.
  • Immaculata threatened multiple times in the first half, including a goal-to-go opportunity deep in Marymount territory early in the second quarter. However, the Saints' defense held firm, turning the Macs away and preserving a scoreless tie.
  • Marymount broke through late in the second quarter with a sustained 11-play drive that resulted in a short touchdown run, giving the visitors a 6–0 lead heading into halftime.
  • The Mighty Mac defense continued to compete in the third quarter, highlighted by an interception from Frankie Brunkel that briefly swung momentum back in Immaculata's favor. Despite the takeaway, the Macs were unable to convert offensively, as Marymount added to its lead with a long touchdown run to make it 12–0.
  • Immaculata continued to battle into the fourth quarter, with the defense forcing another red-zone interception by Eliana Szatkowski to halt a Marymount scoring threat. Jappah and Molinini anchored a unit that totaled 33 tackles and kept the game within reach for most of the afternoon.
  • Marymount added a late score in the fourth quarter to account for the final margin.
