IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata men's soccer began a new chapter in 2025 in their first season under head coach
Rob Dallas.
It was a rebuilding year for the program, as the Mighty Macs went 3-12-2 (2-3-2 AEC). However, there were signs of a bright future throughout the season.
COACH'S CORNER
"As a young group, this year was a great opportunity for us to grow, learn, and gain some valuable experience," Dallas said. "While the results were not what we had hoped for this year, I was very impressed by our group and their resilience as they continued to compete day in and day out. Now as we move forward, some of those valuable lessons learned this season will serve as building blocks for us as we grow and improve. I believe the ceiling is very high for this program, and I know all of the guys are working toward taking a big step forward next season!"
THE SCHEDULE
Men's soccer opened the 2025 season with a few tough losses, including a 5-0 decision at TCNJ in their first match. Nonetheless, they would see their first win of the year on Sept. 10, when they earned a 2-1 victory over Notre Dame of Maryland. Throughout the season, although Immaculata kept their opponents scoreless in the first half of matches, it was the second half of matches that usually made the difference.
Once Immaculata reached conference play, there was clear improvement. The Mighty Macs had scoreless draws in their opening two Atlantic East Conference (AEC) matches to Centenary (N.J.) and Marymount. The Marymount match was particularly impressive, as freshman goalkeeper
Luca Greppellini, had one of his best performances of the season. Greppellini saved 13 shots on a season-high 29 shots faced, battling against an aggressive Saints offense. Despite going out with an injury late in the second half,
Matteo Paolillo stepped up in relief, and the two tallied a combined shutout.
In the season finale, even with the Mighty Macs being eliminated from playoff contention, they travelled to Scranton, Pa. for a match with Marywood. Against a strong Pacers team, the Mighty Macs pulled off the upset in a 1-0 decision.
Alex Corsones broke the tie in the 14
th minute on a
Daniel O'Rourke dime. Greppellini once again stood tall in goal, making nine saves in 27 shot attempts.
Immaculata showed that they have what it takes to compete with teams in their conference and that their defense could be a strength in future seasons.
