Women's Tennis Travels to Lancaster Bible For Road Match This Afternoon

THE STORYLINE
  • The Immaculata women's tennis team (0-1) returns to action this afternoon when they travel to play at Lancaster Bible at 3:30 pm. Immaculata fell in their fall season opener to Wilkes on September 18th 5-2 with the final two matches being decided by tiebreakers.
  • Lancaster Bible College women's team is playing their first match of the fall season against Immaculata this afternoon.
 
THE SERIES
  • These two schools will be meeting for the fifth time in their series that started in 2010.
  • Immaculata is 3-1 lifetime against Lancaster Bible.
 
LAST MEETING
  • Immaculata defeated Lancaster Bible 5-4 in their last meeting on September 18, 2023 at the IU Tennis Courts.
  • Pamela Kontaras and Delaney Brown earned the win in first doubles. Kontaras won the first singles match 6-4, 1-6, and 10-7, and Brown won second singles in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to help lead the Mighty Macs to the win.
 
MIGHTY MAC NOTES
  • Pamlea Kontaras will look to bounce back after a hard-fought loss in first singles against Wilkes losing the tiebreaker 11-9.
  • Delaney Brown will look to build off her straight set win in second singles vs Wilkes. After winning a tough first set 7-5, Brown (the Atlantic East Conference Rookie of the Year in 2022-23) cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set.
  • Freshman Sophia Carey performed well in her first collegiate match falling in the tiebreaker 6-10 after taking the first set 6-4 and dropping the second set 4-6.
  • Freshman Hailey Elwell won her first collegiate match against Wilkes coming back after dropping the first set 4-6, to take set two 6-0 to force the tiebreaker. Elwell would win the tiebreaker 10-5 for her first collegiate win.
  • Immaculata lost all three doubles matches vs Wilkes. Under the new rules for 2024-25 the team that wins two or more doubles matches is credited one point in the match score.
 
SCOUTING LANCASTER BIBLE
  • This is Lancaster Bible's opening match of the 2024 fall season.
  • Junior Susannah Clowser is 10-6 in her career in singles, and 2-4 in her career in doubles.  Was named to the United East Volt Division All-Conference 2nd Team in singles in 2024.
  • Junior Sierra Hartmann is 12-22 in singles during her career, and 12-21 in doubles during her career. Was named to the United East Volt Division All-Conference 2nd Team in Doubles in 2024.
  • Junior Natalie Hoover is 16-12 in her career in singles and 16-14 in her career in doubles. She was named the United East All-Conference 2nd Team in Singles and doubles in 2023, and the United East Volt Division All-Conference 2nd Team in Doubles in 2024.
  • Junior Jania West is 16-16 in her career at singles and 14-20 in her career at doubles. She was named to United East All-Conference 2nd Team in singles in 2023 and 2024.
WEEKLY HONORS 
  • Delaney Brown was named to the Atlantic East Conference Women's Tennis Weekly Honor Roll on Tuesday afternoon. Brown won her singles match in straight sets 7-5, 6-1 vs Wilkes University on September 18th.
UP NEXT
  • The Immaculata women's tennis team will be back in action on Saturday, October 5th when they travel to play at Stevenson University at 1:00 pm.
